Creating The Brief PDF Print E-mail
Ok, here is where the fun starts! If you have been following the WebWise tutorials from the beginning, you would have already gone through the planning steps that we suggested and should already have the makings of a pretty solid website design brief (see Planning Your Website). If you haven't read this section, take a moment to go through it, as it will help you to get an idea of what a good brief requires.

For those of you who don't know, here's a quick definition - a brief is a document that highlights the goals and requirements of the website design, and gives your website designers a very clear idea of your vision. The more clear and concise your brief, the more your designers are going to understand what is required of them.

It would be a good idea to arrange a few meetings with your website design team, whether by phone or face to face, so that you can get their feedback on the website and they can help you to fine-tune your brief. This will also give them an opportunity to bring to light any potential issues that you might not have been aware of, as well as to discuss elements of the site that might be unclear.

The ultimate goal of this brief is to reduce the chances of mis-communication and to make sure that your website design team knows what you want them to do. You should view this step as a collaborative process, so keep an open mind, but remember to keep a firm grasp on what you feel is best for your website design, so as not to get distracted from what you really want to achieve.
